On October 25th, 2007 MFAC launched its second 5K event at NICSA's Technology Summit in Las Vegas.
MFAC was proud to team up with AT&T for the event titled "The AT&T 5K Challenge". A pre-kick-off promotion was held on Tuesday, October 23rd at the NICSA opening reception where "Elvis" was featured at the Mutual Funds Against Cancer booth. Elvis mixed and mingled with the crowd, taking memorable photographs with all.
The event raised up to $18,000, highlighted by sponsorships from top firms such as Computershare, Boston Financial Data and DST Systems. It kicked off at an early 7:00 a.m. and included over 37 participants who enjoyed a walk/run around the pristine JW Marriott Hotel property and concluded at the luxurious poolside of the JW with a breakfast gathering. Individual accolades at the race included Jim Keenan as the leading fundraiser, raising $3,100. Nick Nicolas raised a whopping $3,000 and Jeff Graves came in third on the fundraising front with $775.00. Collectively all the participants raised overt $10,000 ’Äì a major feat compared to last year's $3,000. The winner of the race was Brian Stanson with a time of 18:58 . Both Brian and Jim received the Blackberry Curve, compliments of AT&T.
